Under cover

It was during those crazy few hours before you say 'I do' that I first discovered Colorscience mineral make-up.  A gorgeous friend was touching up my make-up that I had insisted on doing myself with the most wonderful corrector palette I had ever seen at work.

Six months later I was still craving the effects of this powerful concealer when the same dear friend ordered it for me.  It really is as brilliant as I remember.  I love the look of very little make-up but with long days and a busy job I always have eye bags and blemishes by Thursday that give me away.  This means that a good concealer is a vital part of my make-up routine.  Colorscience is an all natural range that as well as taking care of your skin, has great coverage.  This palette has different shades that are good for covering different issues such as reds, blues and blacks.  They mix well together and are super easy to use.

This is one of those products that will live in my handbag for last minute touch ups and I never want to be without again.

A sun soaked spring day

Today was the first day this year where the temperature was over 13 degrees and the sun was out in force.  It's amazing to have the warmth on your face after a long, cold winter.  Spring this year calls for a pretty blouse and a fedora hat and so I updated my vintage battered mens fedora for this British made Topshop one.

Spring suedes

Above - Miss Selfridge summer press day

After a winter of minimal styling in black and grey the warm hit of springs 70s fashion comes as a delight to the senses.  For me suede is my favourite element of this revival and the return of the popper front A-Line skirt is hugely exciting.

Although it's more of an investment piece there are some beauties on the High St including this Miss Selfridge sand version that is top of my wish list.  Pair with a cropped black knit and black sheer tights now and live in it throughout summer with a sheer blouse and tan sandals.  I will also be keeping my eyes peeled for the launch of the stunning suede dresses (top) that I fell in love with at Miss Selfridge's summer press day.  Are they not beautiful?

BLUR & FADE

Vintage is back in a big way this Spring and with the 70s flares and suede boots comes a fresh look to beauty.  Skin is kept natural and light with less of a 'done' look, and finished with some full but natural brows and a sweep of mascara.  To create a non-make up base whilst getting enough coverage to still look groomed I have fallen in love with a few High Street basics.  This Maybelline Baby Skin anti-fatigue blur primer is my new favourite product and is the ideal lunch-break treat at only £7.99.  It hydrates even the most tired skin and leaves a glossy, smooth finish ready to apply foundation.   It's also an absolute winner for blurring under-eye circles and it smells delicious.  Truly ideal for brightening early morning weekday starts.

My other High-Street discovery is also by Maybelline.  Their new Dream Flawless nude foundation is a delight to use.  I haven't found a foundation that is quite this light and fluid and yet allows a good coverage before.  It glides on like silk leaving the skin feeling super soft.  It isn't a 'full' cover and bad blemished will still need some covering, but it's ideal if you want to downgrade a full face but are not quite ready for a bb cream or tinted moisturiser.  Again this product is an amazing price at only £8.99 and feels far more luxurious.

IN THE COLOUR

When everything in your wardrobe is black and looking a little tired the draw to Spring's colour hits is even stronger.  I can't think of a better way to brighten some basic skinny jeans or a black leather mini skirt than a splash of pink.  Two of my current favourite pieces are these stunning Sophia Webster pink and striped heels and this New Look over-sized nude sequin tee.  What better way to brighten a grey weekday?
